Job Description

An established and well known manufacturing business is seeking a world class HSE Officer to promote a safe and environmentally sound culture within their West Midlands manufacturing site.

About the Role
Reporting into the site HSE Manager, the HSE Officer will be a true relationship builder, someone who will come on site to collaborate and influence from the Plant Manager through to the shop floor.

" The role will encompass the development and implementation of Health, Safety & Environmental best practice, ensuring the Plant complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision.
" To work proactively with managers to identify potential issues and establish and maintain safe systems of work. Deliver site-wide training to all colleagues ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
" Assist the wider HSE team in implementing health & safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting, manual handling and control of substance hazardous to health (COSHH), in a consistent and effective manner. Drive corrective actions for any non-conformance.
" Provide a detailed understanding of lean manufacturing in relation to HSE policy, working on a site which has an established Lean Manufacturing journey well underway.

About the Person

The HSE Officer will have proven experience in a manufacturing environment and ideally have some exposure to the direct management of a team, in addition to the following:

" Relevant Health, Safety & Environmental qualifications i.e. NEBOSH, COSHH & IOSH. Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training would be desirable.
" Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, with specific experience OF dealing with health, safety and environmental issues.
" Possess excellent communication interaction skills at all levels;
" Knowledge of customer base, manufacturing processes and capabilities, company products, technology and efficiencies
" Have demonstrable past experience as an HSE Manager, HSE Advisor, HSE Officer or HSE Coordinator
