Job Description

An established and well known manufacturing business is seeking a world class HSE Officer to promote a safe and environmentally sound culture within their manufacturing site in South Wales.

Location: South Wales (commutable from Swansea, Neath & Llanelli)
Salary: up to £35000 DOE + Benefits

About the Role

Reporting into the HSE Manager, the HSE Officer will be a true relationship builder, someone who will come on site to collaborate and influence the shop floor in conjunction with the senior management team.

o The role will encompass the development and implementation of Health, Safety & Environmental best practice, ensuring the Plant complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision.

o To work proactively with the team to identify potential issues and establish and maintain safe systems of work. Deliver site-wide training to all colleagues ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
o Assist the wider management team in implementing health & safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements and drive corrective actions for any non-conformance.
o Provide a detailed understanding of lean manufacturing in relation to HSE policy, working on a site which has an established Lean Manufacturing journey well underway.

About the Person

The HSE Officer will have proven experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally heavy/industrial engineering in addition to the following:

o Relevant Health, Safety & Environmental qualifications i.e. NEBOSH, COSHH & IOSH. Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training would be desirable working within the ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 frameworks.
o Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, with specific experience of dealing with health, safety and environmental issues.
o Possess excellent communication interaction skills at all levels;
o Knowledge of customer base, manufacturing processes and capabilities, company products, technology and efficiencies
o Have demonstrable past experience as an HSE Manager, HSE Advisor, HSE Officer or HSE coordinator.
