Part of an international manufacturing group, this organisation produce high volume components for the automotive industry. As a Production Engineer, the primary purpose of the role is to provided support on new product introduction, kaizen projects and engineering support on continuous improvement projects.
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Salary: £30 - £35,000 per annum
Main duties and responsibilities:
o Maintain and improve production process settings to ensure product quality is sustained at an acceptable level
o Determine production process sequences, procedures and timing of operations
o Selecting and purchasing manufacturing equipment, jigs and tools
o Deciding for quality assurance by control items and by control equipment
o Completing all relevant records both paper and electronic to enable analysis of fault types downtime and costs
o Industrial automation/Robotics/ PLC controls - both troubleshooting and continuous improvement projects
Knowledge and experience required:
You will already have a proven track record working as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or Production Engineer working with a high volume, mass production manufacturing facility.
o Experience within an automotive manufacturer would be highly advantageous but not essential.
o Time served apprenticeship/ HND/Degree in an Engineering related subject
o Demonstrable experience in any of the following - hydraulic and pneumatics, mechanical drives and systems, electrical control systems, PLC's, Robots, Welding equipment or press tooling
o Background in automated welding assembly/production would be considered highly advantageous
o Writing SOPs and understanding of DFMEA/PFMEA procedures
o Knowledge of production machinery and tooling 'buyoff' procedures
o Able to demonstrate Kaizen project results in terms of cost, quality, H&S and environment improvements.
