As an Manufacturing Engineer your role will be to develop manufacturing process to improve quality and cycle times through analysis of production data and processes
Machining Process Engineer
Location: West Midlands; commutable from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Walsall, Stafford, Telford areas
Main duties and responsibilities:
o Evaluate and improve CNC manufacturing process applying knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools and materials to reduce scrap, improve cycle times and reduce consumable tool costs.
o Liaise with equipment manufacturers; establishing standard procedures and developing the operators to attain maximum productivity.
o Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
o Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
o Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
o Complete design and development projects by training and guiding operators.
o Specify future new CAPEX investment for systems, machinery and tooling to achieve future planned investment and growth opportunities
oCNC production engineer/ process engineer, self-motivated individual who can communicate at all levels with a knowledge of multitasking technology, with relevant manufacturing engineering qualifications. Six Sigma or similar Lean process techniques, CAD CAM, some project management experience, fixture and tooling design / specification.
Knowledge and experience required:
You will already have a proven track record working as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, CNC Programmer or Production Engineer working with a high volume CNC precision manufacturing facility
o Time served apprenticeship/ HND/Degree in an Engineering related subject
o CNC programming for multi axis milling and turning ( Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or similar )
o Proven process improvement, ideally reducing cycle time, scrap reduction, reduce tool cost
o Establishing new production lines or relocation of facilities including CAPEX justification, machine feasibility studies, factory layout and production optimisation
o Experience in leading the PFMEA process for major production equipment purchases
o In-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and how to apply them in practice
o Methodical approach to problem solving, using data and metrics to prove results
o Hands on and flexible approach to provide support to production as and when required
