Production Engineer – electro-mechanical product assembly & test
Salary: £30 -35000
Location: Birmingham, commutable from Coventry, Solihull, Tamworth, Coleshill areas
Summary of Position
The Engineer has responsibility for all aspects of production engineering within a small assembly operation manufacturing safety critical products for hazardous area applications. When necessary this may include the development of prototypes, working closely with Design and Operations teams to ensure that assembly activities and processes are optimized throughout. Other responsibilities include Plant Maintenance and Health and Safety activities.
o New Product Introduction support
o Production process and equipment commissioning
o Contribute to the Design for Manufacture (DFA/DFM) process working alongside the Design Team.
o Hands-on onsite maintenance duties and introduction of TPM systems.
o Assist with factory re-layout/ site relocation
o Assist with Health and Safety on a production level, LOTO's, Safe Systems of Work.
You will already be an accomplished hands on engineer with a passion for improving and maintaining production systems using a common sense practical approach.
o C&G/ HNC Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
o Experience of manufacturing & assembly of electro – mechanical products eg: lighting, electrical switchgear, enclosure design, rail, aerospace or similar
o Good knowledge of manufacturing and production practices and DFM/ DFA principals
o Proficient project management and administration skills
o Problem solving with good fault finding skills
o Ability to work to tight deadlines
o Create and modify Manufacturing and Quality documentation.
This is a very hands on shop floor based role that will be very varied but also rewarding. As the company has plans to expand it product range and move to larger premises, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Engineer, Process Engineer or Maintenance Engineer to join a small team and make a real contribution to the planned introduction of new products into the market. Backed by a large engineering plc, you will have a very broad and varied remit with the opportunity to really see your hard work and innovation put into production.
