Leading automotive component manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced Interim Contract Project Engineer to work on welded / bonded/ riveted assembly programmes for new product launches. As a Project Engineer you will support the world class delivery of new products and processes into the Plant with a focus on welded/ joining assembly plus other joining processes.

3 month interim contract, possible extension
Location: Telford, commutable from Wolverhampton, Cannock, Shrewsbury, Stafford, North Birmingham, Walsall, West Bromwich areas
Rate : c£32 – 38 per hour ( Ltd Co)
As an expert Welding Assembly Engineer working with automotive BIW you will work alongside the Plant Projects Team to enable delivery of new products/programmes into plant. The role of the Project Engineer also encompasses the delivery of capital projects against approved capital expenditure budgets.
o Involved in the initial specification of project related equipment (e.g. Tooling, Assembly Equipment, Shop floor layouts etc.)
o Involved in the early phases of a project to support initial feasibility reviews, process layout, validation of quotations and development of project budgets and timing for plant based activities.
o Support definition of initial Statement of Work for plant based activities in line with overall project SOW.
o Support the industrialisation/launch phase of new product introductions and any associated budgets.
o Involvement in project closure activities including feedback of any improvements for future projects
o Involvement in, and promotion of, Continuous Improvement activities within own area and others.
o Working closely with Plant Manufacturing Engineering to ensure timely and innovative development and delivery of plant based project solutions.
o Support delivery of capital equipment in line with approved budget, including control of contractors Involved in the initial conception phase of the manufacturing process of a new project.
Key Skills & experience
o HNC / Degree Mechanical or Production Engineering or similar
o BIW ( Body in white) assembly process expertise
o Considerable welding, joining and assembly experience (MIG, spot, adhesives, curing, riveting, joining)
o Understand automotive customer expectations with regards to product quality, assembly feasibility and cost parameters
o Experience of project management and budgetary management.
o Ability to remain analytical and make sound business decisions in a high pressure, fast moving environment.
o Experience of APQP, SPC, PFMEA, PPAP and control plans. CAD literate
o Full driving license and able to visit customers and suppliers
