This position would suit a Junior Buyer or Assistant Buyer who already has some Buying / Purchasing experience gained in a manufacturing environment, but would value joining a global automotive manufacturing company to gain some valuable training and experience.
Fixed term 11 month contract starting January 2019
Location: Stoke on Trent
Reporting directly to the Group Purchasing Manager and Local Buyers you will work as an integral part of the purchasing team responsibility for support the co-ordination and procurement activity of Direct (Production) Materials & supporting indirect good and services within the purchasing team
o Ensure plant has all raw production materials to maintain productivity meeting timing, quality, quantity and cost targets.
o Identifying and realising all cost reduction ideas and opportunities by means of pooling of requirements, interrogating costs and alternative materials and suppliers.
o Ensuring materials are purchased at the most cost effective price and most cost effective way
o Maintain conformance to TS 16949 working procedures
o Working together with operations team on a daily basis ensuring competitive quotations are obtained and supplier selection made considering total business cost
o Maintenance and development of the approved suppliers list
o Support project teams where new projects are being introduced ensuring spares are secured at the lowest total cost and are in line with project timing
o Monitoring of cost throughout projects identifying and tracking cost drivers
o Cost down projects for all company sites including working in cross functional teams
o Ensure compliance to company Purchasing Guidelines and systems
You will already have some experience working in a Junior Buyer or Assistant Buyer role gained in a manufacturing environment and would value joining a global automotive manufacturing company to gain some valuable training and experience.
o Demonstrate purchasing experience of direct materials and/or indirect products/ services
o Understanding of Supplier Quotations (How to evaluate supplier Quotations - cost breakdowns)
o CIPS qualification or be studying towards membership of the CIPS or equivalent qualification
o Be prepared to travel occasionally within the UK
o Contractual negotiation skills and experience/understanding
o Confident MS Office skills including ERP/ MRP, SAP, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
