Leading global 1st tier automotive supplier who have invested huge sums of money on new plant and facilities are looking to recruit a Tooling Engineer. The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for administrating and assisting in the overall procurement of new tooling or re-tooling or modifications to existing products. The Tooling Engineer will also support the manufacture of good quality tooling as appropriate to time and cost budgets through diligent evaluation of design and management of the suppliers..

Salary - £34,273 rising to £37,409

Tooling Engineer - Responsibilities
O To work with the Tooling Manager and Senior Tooling Engineers to specify the new tooling requirements,
O To ensure that requirements of all new tooling is specified and the design is reviewed in detail at the design stage
O To ensure the tooling meets the requirements of the product and minimise any additional handling requirements after the moulding process
O To monitor progress of all tooling to ensure timescales are maintained and to communicate tooling status to Moulding project Engineers/ Project Engineers and other relevant parties as appropriate.
O To be responsible for all trial / validation activities up to successful sign-off in accordance with the standard operating procedures for all new tooling.
O To be available at short notice to attend trials on a global supplier base and support the sign off process in the toolmakers trials facilities
O To co-ordinate activities between Production, Product Development and the Toolmaker to ensure any tool corrections are speedily carried out and re-trialled and re inspected with no delays.
O To ensure that all documentation relating to tool corrections are completed and maintained as required by the relevant standard operating procedures.
O To monitor and maintain records of the performance of Toolmakers on new product tooling
O To keep abreast of advances on Technology development in tooling / moulding to ensure Functional Excellence is maintained.
O To oversee the timely invoicing of all tooling.
Tooling Engineer - Key Skills
O HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Polymers or related discipline engineering degree.
O Proficient knowledge of tooling and mould design
O Able to create a positive approach to problem solving
O Customer focused,
O Able to provide good customer interface
O Computer literate
O Methodical/Well organised
O Proven experience in tooling and / or injection moulding
O Experience of Automotive industry
O Successful experience in tool installation projects incorporating significant budgets for complex projects.
O Proven track record of delivering projects on time and to budget with quality approved parts.
O Awareness and use of statistical tools
O Experience in project management.
