Part of a major international automotive group, this organisation is setting up a new manufacturing facility to sequence assemble complex high value components for the automotive industry. As Operations Manager you will be responsible for the implementation and management of all manufacturing operations for our clients flagship facility to supply into a prestigious automotive customer.


to £68,000 package, pension, bonus, medical insurance

Location: North East ( commutable from Sunderland, Newcastle, Washington, Gateshead, Durham areas)

As Production Operations Manager you will be responsible for the Production Operations, MP&L and Engineering departments, providing an integrated approach in managing the manufacturer of complex assemblies in a high volume, just in time sequenced delivery operation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Overall purpose of this role is to ensure that all day-to-day operations are running smoothly. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategy, leading, managing and coaching people, driving process development and delivering productivity and performance improvements in line with the Company Business Plan.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Manager will take full responsibility for performance management, working towards consistent achievement of daily, weekly and monthly KPI targets. You will also optimise opportunities to improve processes, product quality and quantity.

o Budgetary responsibility and management of costs

o Lead process improvements and cost savings

o Team training and development

o Health & Safety compliance ensuring best practice at all times


The successful candidate will already have significant experience working in a similar Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager or Production Manager capacity in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment meeting the needs of a demanding customer.

o Tier 1 automotive manufacturing sector or possible OEM background, ideally involved with complex assembly operations

o Proven experience of implementing procedures and systems whilst launching a new product into production

o Knowledge of Just in Time (JIT) and ideally Just in Sequence (JIS) delivery schedules

o A natural leader with the ability to influence across functions and to engender a team based culture.

o IT and data analysis skills including SAP/ ERP/ MRP/ MES / Kanban systems for JIT and ideally (JIS) delivery.

o Natural problem solver and planner, you will be customer focused and responsive, with strong oral and written communications skills, both internally and externally, also exceptional presentation skills.

o Strong numeracy, financial & commercial acumen

o Preferably engineering apprenticeship or degree level equivalent with additional professional / management qualifications.
