Part of a major international group, this organisation is setting up a new manufacturing facility to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. As MP&L Manager you will be responsible for setting up the Supply Chain function - Materials, Planning & Logistics, for our clients flagship facility to supply into a prestigious automotive customer.

Materials Planning & Logistics Manager (Supply Chain Manager)
(High volume automotive JIT/ JIS manufacturer)
c£60,000 + benefits
Location: North East ( commutable from Sunderland, Newcastle, Washington, Gateshead, Durham areas)

As MP&L Manager you will be responsible for the Materials, Planning & Logistics function, providing an integrated approach in managing the flow of material and parts in a high volume, just in time sequenced delivery operation.

Main Duties:
Ensure that the customer is kept supplied and that finished goods and raw material stock levels are kept to agreed standards. Maintain strong inter-departmental relationships to ensure that achievable production plans are established that fulfil the demands of our customers and remain within the company's commercial remit.
o Control of material handling and warehouse systems throughout the division to ensure safe and secure handling and storage of materials and products.
o Develop systems, procedures and processes to ensure continual improvement in inventory control and reductions in stock levels.
o Define and develop logistics strategies for inbound materials and outbound products with our suppliers and customers
o Provide a logistics planning service to production, our suppliers and customers for all new product introductions.
o Ensure that customer requirements are assessed so that realistic production plans can be produced and our commercial position is protected at all times.
o Lead and develop the MP&L team to ensure that the departmental targets and objectives are met / exceeded
o Ensure that all relevant ERP / MES systems are implemented correctly to maximize efficiency and ensure continuous improvement of relevant processes

The successful candidate will already have significant experience working in a similar MP&L Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Production Control / Planning Manager or Logistics Manager capacity in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment meeting the needs of a demanding customer.
o Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent with CIPS or logistics professional qualifications. COSHH or IOSH training desirable.
o Experience in the automotive manufacturing sector within Materials, Planning, Logistics and Distribution roles with supply chain responsibilities within a best practice organisation.
o A natural leader with the ability to influence across functions and to engender a team based culture.
o Experience of setting up ERP/ MRP/ Kanban systems for JIT and ideally Just in Sequence (JIS) delivery.
o Extensive experience of global supply chain and logistics, demand analysis, forward planning, level load cell manufacturing / forecasting techniques and inventory management.
o Strong problem solver and planner, you will be customer focused and responsive, with strong oral and written communications skills, both internally and externally, also exceptional presentation skills.
o Strong numeracy, financial & commercial acumen
