A Technical Project Manager is sought for a market leading design and manufacturer of high technology products used to offer support and security to a wide range of customers globally.
Project Manager – High Technology Electronic Products
Salary: £60-70000, pension, medical insurance
Location: South Yorkshire
As a Senior Technical Programme Manager you will be responsible for managing the development of new products, including management of risks, resources, quality, communication and conflicts to ensure R&D projects are delivered to specification on time and to budget.
Key Responsibilities Include:
o Identify and agree with project sponsors / senior managers the programme plans for all new product developments and ensure they are available to market by the required dates, within budget and that they meet the agreed requirements specifications.
o Define project objectives, tasks, control requirements, critical paths, resources/costs associated with the project; allocate responsibilities and accountable project tasks.
o Manage projects to ensure resource capacity conflicts are minimised and managed appropriately when they arise.
o Implement comprehensive contracts with third party developers and suppliers which covers all development project phases such as initial design specification, ownership of IPR, appropriate test and quality management processes, manufacturing / supply arrangements, effective management of engineering change process, obsolescence issues etc.
o Work closely with Hardware design, Software and firmware design, Manufacturing, Procurement, Operations and Quality functions to support delivery of account/programme objectives.
The Successful Applicant
As a successful Project Manager or Programme Manager you will need to demonstrate a proven track record project and programme management delivery ideally within an electronic product development or R&D engineering environment. You will need to be capable of developing productive working relationships across multi-disciplined teams both internally or externally and demonstrate strong planning and organisation skills in order to manage a varied portfolio of projects
o Experience and knowledge of appropriate project management Processes / methodologies/software.
o Delivering technology based new products incorporating some of the following: electronic hardware/ software/ firmware, RFI, Optics, Sensors, Communications
o Developing and implementing development project specifications and documentation.
o Ideally a background in electronic hardware design
o Management of resources within a matrix environment including project budgets.
o Proven analytical and communication skills.
o Degree level education or equivalent in an engineering or technology discipline. Prince2 or project management qualifications would be desirable.
