A world class manufacturing organisation is seeking a Junior Buyer due to internal promotion.

Position: Buyer – Engineering/ manufacturing

Salary: c£25000 + benefits

Location: Liverpool

Working as part of the procurement team, will support the Category Manager with procurement and management of engineering service contracts, spare parts and consumables for the production and maintenance functions.


o Managing a portfolio of suppliers for new and replacement service and supply contracts

o Sourcing and negotiating with existing suppliers, challenging prices where relevant

o Ensuring supplies adhere to quality, service and best practise initiatives

o Managing performance of the supplier base

o Supporting tenders, product enquiries and ad-hoc project work

o Purchasing of standard and non-standard stock items

o Carrying out supplier benchmarking activities

o Reporting and statistical analysis

o Raising purchasing orders

o Supporting stock control and administration activities


Applications are sought from experienced Buyers or Assistant Buyers/ Purchasing professionals gained within a manufacturing, engineering or similar industrial environment.

o CIPS Level 3 ( or working towards ) or Bachelor's degree level of equivalent

o Purchasing experience of engineering components or industrial site services ideally

o SAP ERP experience

o Experience in negotiating and generating varied contracts

o Excellent negotiation, communication and data analysis skills

o Ability to work autonomously and make decisions as required
