Part of a major international group, this organisation has recently invested multi million pounds in a brand new manufacturing facility to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. As a Process Engineer your role will be to oversee and lead improvement activity for the manufacturing operations within a highly automated CNC machining line.



Production Process Engineer - CNC machining

Salary: c£35000

Location: Telford, Shropshire



Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role of Production Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and leading continuous improvement of the manufacturing process. Actively present on the shop floor, you will provide technical support on all production process related issues. This includes:

o Implement process improvement strategies across tooling, jigs and fixtures, quality / data analysis and optimisation of machine controls and production flow.

o Creation of SOPs and PFMEA documentation

o Continuous improvement activities

o Poke yoke (error proofing)

o Line balancing & Value Stream Mapping

o Engineering and associated process change management

o Your focus will be on a key manufacturing processes including heat treatment, surface treatment, CNC machining, all controlled in a highly automated production cells incorporating the latest Robots and PLC automation.



Knowledge and Education

You will already have a proven track record working in a similar Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Production Engineering role within a high volume automated manufacturing facility

o Apprentice / HND/Degree in an Engineering related subject

o Hands on knowledge of CNC machining, CNC programming, jigs & fixture design, cutting tool optimisation, poke yoke methods

o Experienced working with automated production lines incorporating robots automation and PLC/ CNC controls

o In-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement methodologies and how to apply them in practice

o Confident hands-on approach, problem solving and rout cause analysis.

o SOP and PFMEA creation

o Knowledge of route cause analysis and structured problem solving ( 8D, PPS, Fish bone)

This method of manufacture is unique and further training will be provided which will involve some overseas travel.
