Part of a major international automotive group, this organisation is setting up a new manufacturing facility to sequence assemble complex high value components for the automotive industry. As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the implementation and management of all manufacturing & process engineering team for our clients flagship facility to supply into a prestigious automotive customer.



PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MANAGER - AUTOMOTIVE JIT/ JIS MANUFACTURING

to £55000, pension, bonus

Location: North East ( commutable from Sunderland, Newcastle, Washington, Gateshead, Durham areas)



Reporting to the Plant Manager, as Production Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the Process Engineering and Industrialisation of a new fully automated assembly line producing complex assemblies in a high volume, just in time sequenced delivery operation.



Main Duties and Responsibilities

o Deploy manufacturing process to meet process capability, budget, OEE, cycle time and quality specification

o Launch of new products and change management process implementation

o Ensure robust PFMEA, poke yoke, H&S and OEE strategies are in place

o Collaborate internally to ensure PPAP, IT / MES, MP&L & Quality systems are in place

o Lead process improvements and cost savings

o Team training and development

o Health & Safety compliance ensuring best practice at all times



Experience:

The successful candidate will already have significant experience working in a similar Engineering Manager capacity bias toward industrialisation and process / production engineering in fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment meeting the needs of a demanding customer.

o HND/ Degree / MSc Engineering or Science based subject ( or equivalent)

o Tier 1 automotive manufacturing sector or possible OEM background, ideally involved with complex assembly operations

o Proven experience of implementing manufacturing process engineering and industrialisation to launch a new products into production

o Experience of complex assembly processes involving high automation, material handling systems, poke yoke, testing, dimensional measurement and product qualification.

o Some process knowledge of adhesive bonding / joining of plastics, metal or glass substrates

o Record of successful delivery of process improvement, efficiencies and cost reduction

o Project management experience of large capital equipment expenditure

o A natural leader with the ability to influence across functions and to engender a team based culture.
