Electrical Design Manager
Salary: c£52000 + benefits
Location: Burton upon Trent
As Head of Engineering for a UK based engineering and manufacturing business who develop high value, safety critical products for a global customer base. They have been able to balance working on bespoke, long term technical projects with growing a varied standard product range and see this development as critical to the continued progress of the organisation. Backed by a long term investment and part of a group of market leading businesses they have an outstanding platform with which to produce world class products.
Reporting to the MD, you will lead the engineering and design office team, consisting of electrical and mechanical engineers, to deliver bespoke and standardised high value products. In addition you will work closely with the commercial and marketing departments to understand the requirements of your customers in order to develop new product concepts. You will be a hands-on engineer in your own right and take part in concept generation, detailed design, testing and validation as part of the team.
You already be a Design Manager or Principal/ Senior Engineer seeking more responsibility in a medium size and dynamic organisation. It is a business critical role and the successful candidate will play a large part in shaping the technical direction of the business, along with playing a large part in the fundamental design of the products themselves.
The successful Electrical Design Manager will demonstrate the following characteristics:
o Electrical design of high value capital equipment or rotating machinery
o Sound understanding of LV/MV power, switchgear, transformers, invertors and control systems
o Proven leadership and management experience in a design office environment
o Formal qualifications, degree or higher, in electrical engineering or similar design discipline
o A proactive, problem solver attitude to technical, personnel and strategic challenges
o Knowledge of CAD software (Ideally AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN)
o Sound understanding and application of design office and engineering release procresses
o The desire to grow as a leader, and to develop the people around you.
