Control Systems & Automation Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing

Working for a high volume manufacturing facility, as the Controls Systems Engineering expert you will responsible for the implementation and optimisation of factory automated processes, drive Continuous Improvement initiatives within existing manufacturing processes and be leading role in the specification of new automated lines and aassembly cells.
o Support production, aactively present on the shop floor – Investigate, troubleshoot & resolve automation failures on automation machinery incorporating PLC’s, Robots, HMI, MES, assembly cells
o Understand production OEE and drive strategies for continuous process improvement o machine uptime, quality improvements and cycle time reduction
o Work directly with Advanced Engineering and NPI on the specification of automated solutions including CAPEX
o Develop and maintain process documentation
You will already be an experienced Automation Engineer, Industrial Controls Systems Engineer, PLC Systems Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer with an expert knowledge of automated manufacturing processes and associated low level industrial control systems and how to best implement and improve the use of technology to optimise a volume production environment.
o Qualified to a minimum HNC level or equivalent in Electrical / Manufacturing /Mechanical Engineering or similar
o Detailed knowledge of programming and fault-finding Siemens S7 PLC, ABB Robotics, HMI, MES, vision systems. In addition ppneumatic, hydraulic and electrical circuit diagram and fault-finding ability
o Optimising automated manufacturing lines with either automotive, aerospace, food, medical devices, FMCG sectors
o Implementation and project control of new manufacturing facilities- creation of FDS, CAPEX review, vendor/ supplier management
o Demonstrate clear understand of lean manufacturing; Value Stream Mapping (VSM); OEE improvement; Continuous Improvement Activities; POKA YOKE (error proofing methods)
o Proven structured problem solving methods and experience of process change management
o Proven ability to train others
This is a newly created position in a high automated modern factory that has had considerable investment in new machinery and facilities due to significant new production sales orders.
Whilst the focus of the position will be local plant base, there is an opportunity to be involved with a wider UK multi site / group responsibility or even potentially become a ‘Global Subject Matter Expert’ responsible for Industrial Control Systems & Automation optimisation working for a globally recognised manufacturer. Therefore salary and benefits on offer is fairly flexible & negotiable depending upon your experience and ambition but will be very competitive salary with a great working environment.
