Our client is a specialist manufacturer, supplying complex products for critical engineering applications across aerospace, automotive, power, marine sectors and this year promises to several key product launches and increase in volumes with further growth planned.
o Provide technical support, identify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to optimise process performance and capability and minimise rejections and ‘special cause’ events
o Review process instructions, process route changes, rework, consultation with customer or rejection as required to ensure product conformance to customer specification
o Provide production support both internally, external customers and suppliers with regard to process performance and product quality and conformance
o Carry out root cause analysis, identify and record sources of ‘special cause’ events and process variation that adversely affect process performance and product quality
o Identify and implement corrective and preventive actions specifically designed to improve product conformance to specification and process capability
o Review of production systems and processes to ensure adherence with SOP
o Create or modify standard operating procedures as required to help improve product conformance to specification and process capability
o Support New Product Development (NPI) initiatives
You will already be a competent Manufacturing Engineer, Process Improvement Engineer, Process Engineer or Production Engineer with previous experience within an complex engineering or manufacturing background
o Degree/ Masters ideally in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Materials Engineering or similar technical subject
o Knowledge gained from working in metals based production such as foundry, casting, forging, heat treatment or similar processes
o Good communication skills for effective liaison and teamwork.
o Proven problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail.
o Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on several tasks or projects concurrently.
o Commercial acumen, able to work within budgets and to deadlines
o Ability to work well independently, with minimum supervision
o Excellent grasp of lean manufacturing or six sigma tools
o Demonstrate leadership ability to coach and build self confidence in team
