A leading Global manufacturer based in West Midlands are looking for a Production Planner to join their busy team immediately. A Planner with a good analytical approach & experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment would be the ideal candidate for this role. You will have a rounded exposure to Production & Material Planning in a World Class Manufacturing Environment.

The Production Planner will work as part of the planning team creating production plans and supplier schedules, managing constraints, liaising with customers and suppliers (internal and external). Managing a robust and effective production plan utilising up to date run rates and change over times ensuring a smooth and efficient process within the plant.

Salary: up to £37,000 per annum + benefits
Location: West Midlands
Commutable from Birmingham, West Brom, Walsall, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Black Country area.

The responsibilities of the Production Planner will include: -

  • Manage supplier scheduling in line with company policies for stockholding & customer schedules, ensure unexpected shortfalls are identified and followed up, when absence cover is required
  • Effectively communicate with the Customer & Supply base, ensuring they are kept fully informed as to the status of ongoing requirements, including material status during engineering change
  • Prepare production & capacity plans, ensuring product is manufactured and delivered in line with Customer requirements, whilst maintaining pre-defined levels of inventory
  • Maintain shop floor data system/production planning interface accuracy, and item master updates
  • Responsible for the appropriate dissemination and maintenance of customer/supplier information e.g. forecasts, packaging specifications
  • Monitor and maintain stillage levels, liaising with Customers to expedite deliveries of pallets if required
  • Internal and external Concern Management (Supply Chain), root cause analysis and solution implementation
The key requirements of the Production Planner will be:-

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Experience of operating in a MRP environment 
  • Improvement implementation experience  
  • Strong experience & knowledge of either MRP/ERP systems
  • A proven history of operating in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment is essential
  • Ability to remain analytical and make sound business decisions in a high pressure, fast moving environment
